The Victims of Bullying Are Not The Only Ones that Need Help
Bullying, a loathsome and unsavory act, is widely seen in all aspects of life, but more particularly in school settings. It features an aggressor intimidating or tormenting a weaker person in one way or another. This act usually ends badly for the victims and leaves him or her in a vulnerable and pitiful state. Thirty percent of U.S. students in grades six through ten are involved in moderate or frequent bullying; as bullies, as victims, or as both (National Survey). Bullying is increasingly viewed as an important contributor to youth violence, including homicide and suicide. It is more prevalent among males than females and occurs with greater frequency among middle school-aged youth than high school-aged youth; children who are obese,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦A bullyââ¬â¢s lack of social skills could be the main motivation behind his or her actions. By not knowing how to make or keep friends, a bully may be bossy, controlling and aggressive to get their way or even use bull ying as a tool to become popular and powerful. Their lack of communication and problem-solving skills can also make them use physical, verbal or relational aggression to express their feelings. Some bullies also might not have assertive skills, making them use aggression as a way to get what they want or need. Bullies who are unable to interact or engage in normal communication with another are impaired in their ability to relate with, or maintain relationships with others. Wanting attention by bullying, though wrong, is the only way a bully knows how to express themselves. They either have never learned how to correctly do so, or were taught the behavior by family members. A bullyââ¬â¢s immature social skills play a huge role in their behavioral problems. Severe family problems can take a toll on a person and cause them to intimidate and terrorize others in an effort to feel better about their situation. The issue can be that the bully is a product of violent or abusive behavior in their own family. A bully, who has been abused by their family sees abuse as the only way of communication. Terrorism An Ancient Method Of Defeating An Opponent
Terrorism History Terrorism is an ancient method of defeating an opponent. Accounts of terrorism existed eons prior to the word itself being conceived. This was established by detailed relics discovered nearly fifty miles south of Mosul in Iraq. Assurnasirpal, the king of Assyria from 884ââ¬â860 BCE, enforced his law on captured regions by raising stone tributes to his successful conquests. Roux (1966) describes that written on these monuments in cuneiform, is the following: ââ¬Å"I built a pillar over against his city gate and I flayed all the chiefs who had revolted, and I covered the pillar with their skin. Some I walled up within the pillar, some I impaled upon the pillar on stakesâ⬠¦ Many captives from among them I burned with fire, and many I took as living captives. From some I cut off their noses, their ears and their fingers, of many I put out the eyes. I made one pillar of the living and another of heads.â⬠Assurnasirpalââ¬â¢s use of terror is particularly evident. Numerous authors in ancient times supported tyrannicide, or the killing of tyrants, as a means to develop a model culture and to satisfy the gods. Regicide, or the killing of kings, occurred quite regularly throughout the Roman age. The most notable political tragedy in ancient Rome was conceivably the killing of Julius Caesar in 44 BCE. Marketing proposal Free Essays
The Iphone is not a phone. It is a revolution that has just started. Some have called it the next resting place of the mind. We will write a custom essay sample on Marketing proposal or any similar topic only for you Order Now When we heard that Apple was creating a new product after iPod, we all held our collective breadths, what were Steve jobs up to? Built in the simple elegance that only Apple knows how to this work of arts most distinctive feature is its high-tech multi touch function that creates an amazingà user experience enables an individual to control everything using his or her fingers and type using a predictive keyboard and glade through the multi touch display to find photos, messages, friends easily. There is thankfully lees clutter and none of those confusing functions that get in the way. Yet the iPod lack one function in order to get it fully right. It doesnââ¬â¢t have a mirror, actually a magic mirror. This is the name I have given a feature that the iphone must have. It is an electronic mirror that a clear spread with your hand over the face of the iphone screens morphs up. Magic mirror can be a traditional mirror with a frame and also has drivers that allow you to talk to an animated character who gives an appropriate response by way of drivers that trigger this. It actively mixes video images while communicating via RS 239 and using the Creston automation system. Other functions includes enabling doctors to identify psychological, physical well being by looking at your magic mirror image along with heart beat and blood pressure sensors of patients and the elderly. The target markets for magic mirror are teenage girls, middle income globally. Because of the growth of the world, middle class there has been a parallel growth in affluent teenagers and young adults. No matter where they are in the world, they have similar desires, interests and consumptions. This has been influenced by the worldwide mass media. They watch the same shows, listen to the same music and watch the same movies and videos. They not only idolize the same musicians, dressing styles, mannerisms and attitudes and therefore have the same shared characteristics and preferences. We intend to have teenagers identify with iphone early in life because preferences and tastes formed now can influence purchasing trends throughout their lives. The social cause that I intend to support is the delinquency and lack of manners that is so prevalent in young adults today. While it has become a common practice for older people to ignore or not to give much thought to young peopleââ¬â¢s behavior and regard this as a passing cloud, I beg to differ. The recent incidents of fatal shootings all over America is the upper peak of a mountain of poor mannerisms that if not checked will result in lawlessness and societal breakdown. I would advocate a campaign for good manners starting at the very bottom. Children as young as three learning to say thank you and please , then moving up to pre-teens who will use the fulfilled and life lessons applications, games, quizzes and chats. Then focus on teenagers and on the other hand providing guidance, advice and support to parents. The slogan I would choose is ââ¬Ëthanks a millionââ¬â¢. This is a slogan that will be part of the campaign that initiates a state by state competition where a million teenagersââ¬â¢ text thank you messages to older people who have done wonderful and even simple things to make life better for others. Tyra banks are in my opinion the most suitable spokesman for the campaign. Her whole life story is an example for many teenagers about how to become a success in life. Born in a middle class background, she lived a normal life and was inspired by her mother who identified her talent in modeling and helped her develop it even through the most challenging times of her life. As a talk show host, Tyra banks have placed her energy towards developing the potential of young women. Her show provides information on fashion, dress, complexion and style. She especially focuses on teenage girls through the Tzone summer camp experience where independence, self esteem is taught to teenage girls at a mountainside camp for a week. Her energy and personality appeals strongly to young girls most importantly. Tyra banks are a modern woman and a role model with manners.à She has started her own campaign against use of derogatory words ageist women in rap videos and has a policy of not allowing swear words to be used during her show. She is the right person for the job. Magic mirror is just a start of the concept of capturing all the senses sight, sound and smell within the iPod. The next phase is to introduce a scent sensor to the iphone as well as a sound sensor. These two features will make the iphone the almost manââ¬â¢s best friend. REFERENCES Winer, R.S. (2007). Movie Summary
Movie Summary The Truman Show Essay Truman Burbank lives in a world that revolves entirely around himself. His relationships are fake, his work is not real, and his life is put on display for millions of people around the world to watch. He has been the star of this reality show ever since he was in his mothers womb. The Truman Show, or as he knows it, his life. He knows nothing of the show. To him this is just his ordinary day to day life. Ever since he was born, his every move has been scrutinized by his audience without his knowledge. As he grows older he starts to question the reality around him and he finds that he wants to break away from his everyday existence. We will write a custom essay on Movie Summary The Truman Show specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now It does not serve the purpose of this essay to discuss the, almost prophetic, critique of everything TV would become. Instead we will focus of these perceptions of reality that Truman faces in his life. Truman, the kind hearted, lovable hero of our story. It doesnt take a whole lot of letter rearranging to spot the inference. Truman is a true man. Or is he? Is Trumans real personality that of what he has grown up as or is he a product of a manufactured environment? He lives in an artificial world but he himself is real. Does that mean we are watching truth or just an appearance of truth? That is the power of false perceptions. Christof, the director of The Truman Show, (in the film not the movie director himself) is interviewed and is very apologetic towards the criticism claiming that while the world is manufactured and put up for sale in the Truman store, everything that people see in Truman is real because it comes from Truman himself. Nothing is rehearsed or planned because he doesnt know he is being filmed. The implication is that he is only as real as the world around him makes him. This screenplay really demonstrates the power of false perceptions. They alter reality, or rather give us an idea of how different everyones versions of reality are. As evidenced in The Truman Show, you can see how different Trumans world is compared to even our world now. He is the definition of sheltered from his youngest years to adulthood. A world void of crime, now wouldnt that be nice. When you are sheltered in this vigorous of a way it would seem that you are to be happier and more content because of your heightened sense of security, but with that false sense of security comes a sort of naivety. As in the movie, false reality comes to an end some time. Now you have this extremely powerful sense of false reality. How does one function in our true society now? You have to start over and relearn your entire way of being in this world. The power is immeasurable. It is apparent in both The Truman Show and our very own lives. In your life you will inevitably meet someone with this naivety for life. It could even be you. Some people envy it while others see it as a disadvantage. Generally of the time this type of sheltering comes from our parents. There are people who want to try and keep their children from as much pain, suffering, and negativity as they can. While others expose their children to as much as they can as soon as possible. Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages. When you meet these two types of people, together, side by side, it is usually extremely apparent. These people will see the world in completely different ways. Their versions of reality could be as different as night and day. Who is to say which is the false perception though? .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 , .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .postImageUrl , .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 , .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:hover , .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:visited , .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:active { border:0!important; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:active , .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808 .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf28e6bc65cf5f5efc6ae7330ed1c6808:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Alien Resurrection EssayThe movie, The Truman Show, shows a very poignant expression of false perceptions, but in our day to day lives it would be increasingly difficult to pick out the true and false perceptions as we all have different ways of thinking and their is no true way of determining who is right. My depiction of The Truman Show really gives way to the true power behind Trumans false perceptions. You wonder if these perceptions of reality stay with him for the rest of his life and if they inevitably cause confusion and disconnect from society when he leaves his little bubble of a world. Will he remain the same innocent, kind hearted man he is? Or will he become bitter and angry with the world? Will he be angry with all of the people he trusted as friends and family when he finds out it was all fake? Actors, and actresses instead. Christof, is he so invested in Trumans world that when the bubble bursts, he may be lost in the world? The power and control of these perceptions of reality hold is so great that he can never truly measure or determine the outcome until it happens. They come from the mind of many. They spread like viruses in homes, communities, cities, and states. Some days you see these false realities taking so much power that they just become a way of life. Summarizing this analysis of the power of false perceptions based on the film The Truman Show will be simple as the concept links so greatly with the screenplay. In short, The Truman Show follows the concept by the sheer simplicity of his life being so wholly controlled by an audience without his knowledge. He has no idea that his entire world is based on a lie. His perception of reality is so far from that of the real world that its a wonder how he will function in society when he finally leaves his staged life for a real one. Truman has a world all his own. Made up friends, family, a job, and an entire community. The people are friendly and the place is void of crime and negativity. This is the biggest false perception of life that I personally could think of. Truman will have to go from thinking the world is a happy and scheduled place, to a world filled with complete and udder chaos. All you can really tell someone about the power of these false perceptions is good luck to you!

Brain Food or Plain Food Essay Example
Brain Food or Plain Food Essay Example Brain Food or Plain Food Essay Brain Food or Plain Food Essay Brain Food or Plain Food Being a college student may not be what it is all cracked up to be in the cinema. Juggling things such as working multiple part time Jobs, meeting classwork deadlines, and various other responsibilities creates psychological and sometimes physical stress, ultimately tending to get in the way of ones nutritional needs. When one does come to see that they have been neglecting their body of nutritional needs, they are faced with an ultimatum. The choice to be made is whether to give in to the cheap, and hunger satisfying but inadequate nourishment or to spend a little more for some roper nourishment that your body surely needs. In Philosophy Professor Kwame Anthony Appiahs essays Making Conversation and The Primacy of Practice, the author states the term cosmopolitanism to describe an ability to connect with and accept others on a multicultural level through creating conversation both locally and on the global scale, creating a deeply interconnected world. In Journalism Professor Michael Pollans essay The Animals: Practicing Complexity, Pollan gives a detailed visual description of Polyface Farm that ultimately exposes a larger and more ultifaceted ecological and economic system, while also discussing feedback systems and food supply chains. In a study by John Todorovich, thirty four college freshmen were enrolled in a new student orientation course taught by graduate nutrition sstudents. The course consisted of five one hour focus groups where the sstudents were taught valuable nutrition information while their reactions and the effectiveness of the course was simultaneously measured. A conversation between sstudents and faculty alike here at Florida Atlantic University on the topic of how to eat better and how to bring more nutritional foods to the campus needs to be had. Educating everyone on campus about what one should be eating to be healthy and live an active lifestyle and what the many benefits of eating correctly are will transform this habit of eating better into a domino effect, passing on the habit to others, creating a complex system. For starters, the food and drink options to one at Florida Atlantic University are anything but ideal for the health conscious person. The Food Court alone is packed full of unhealthy yet apealing options such as Wendys, Pizza Hut, Chinese food and Quiznos. Aside from the food court, there are also several coffee shops offering astries and small hut-like stands offering energy drinks and candy bars for those on the go. For the sstudents that reside on the campus, as well as any others who decide pay the absurd fee, can eat in the dining hall which offers more nutritional food options, as well as the food being freshly made. In order for sstudents to perform well in class, the body needs certain nutrients, which the current dining options on campus to not provide conveniently or economically. Relations are what matter most, and the health of the cultivated turns on the health of the wild (Pollan 292). This uote derived from Michael Pollans essay on Polyface farms illustrates that the Junk food people in todays society are ingesting is not only negatively affecting ones own health and those around them, but the animals we are ingesting as well. Pollan displays how everything eventually in one way or another ends up in a cycle. So if we are Duylng Incre01Dly cneap processed poorly. 000, our livestock Is eatlng even more Moreover, the sooner the change in the food available on campus, the better. Currently, I am taking a nutrition class at FAU, and as my professor was speaking of hat a balanced diet consists of, I came to the realization that many of the nutrients mentioned I would not be able to find on campus at all. Essentially, the human body needs certain vitamins and nutrients that fast food Just simply does not offer to us. There are many components to having a nutritional diet. The first component includes three serving of dairy such as cheese and milk. The second component is foods such as oatmeal and brown rice, neither of which can be found in the Food Court on campus. The third component of a nutritious diet is four servings of fruits and vegetables, which can be pricy to obtain on campus. The fourth and perhaps most important dietary component is protein such as lean chicken and lean turkey, as well as tofu, a vegetarian alternative which I have yet to see to see on campus. Other colleges have already made this leap of enhancing the nutritional value of the food offered on campus. For example, some colleges are implementing salad bars. What can also speed us the process of this change while simultaneously educating sstudents of how to eat better. This change can be by creating more nutrition courses at school and offering free literature on how to make healthier food choices on campus. Currently, the only food and nutrition class offered at Florida Atlantic University is once a week on Mondays from seven to ten at night. The benefits of offering healthier choices at Florida Atlantic University are significant. In order for the brain to function properly and to its full capacity, proper nutrients are needed. Loss of energy and focus are two factors that cause sstudents to purchase pricy and potentially harmful energy drinks and supplements. Eating a proper and healthy diet can avoid this need altogether. Those sstudents who eat right tend to perform exceptionally better in their courses. Receiving sustained energy that asts for hours by the food one eats is a much better alternative than sugary energy drinks that result in one crashing after a period of high energy. As well as increased energy, a benefit of eating healthy is preventing harmful diseases. Heart disease is at an all-time high in the United States, as well as many cancers that have been found to be prevented by nutritional mearns. Obesity in America is also a major concern, with roughly thirty five ppercent of adults being obese. A Correspondingly, by adding more nutritious food options to the University campus, the health of sstudents is not the only variable affected. These sstudents may go on to learn dietary information that they can then go on to share with their families and friends. Eating habits are also primarily learned in adolescence, so with proper nutrition being implemented to college sstudents now, theyre learned exceptional eating habits can be carried on tthroughout their lifetime. It was all of a biological piece, the trees and the grasses and the animals, the wild and the domestic, all part of a single ecological system (Pollan 292. ) In this quote, Pollan describes Polyface Farm as a whole ecological coordination, in which one variable of the farm could not e affected without affecting another variable. In Kwame Appiahs essay, a message is implemented that a change or movement can be brought on by a single person, making conversation with peers. This message relates to the nutritional food choice movement I would like to entice my peers in. Word of mouth is the initial step to creating a movement with much potential. Earlier in my paper I noted how poor the actual education of valuable nutrition information is on the college campus. A Journal table 1 I found through the Florida Atlantic University Library website displays information on an observation of college freshman willingness to learn nutritional information. John Todorovich and his colleagues created a nutrition course module program for incoming college sstudents with poor eating habits. Following the nutrition course, five major themes emerged showing how useful the course was after all. The first theme Todorovich noted was the acquisition of knowledge on topics like portion sizes, different food groups, how to choose healthier snack items, and how to prepare small yet healthy meals for oneself. The study indicated that mostly all sstudents involved learned a significant amount of nutrition information. The second theme of the study was the behavior change of the sstudents involved. Most sstudents vowed to change their poor eating habits, except for a handful of stubborn male sstudents who stated they would be eluctant to change their eating habits unless is was absolutely necessary. On the brighter side, the vast majority of sstudents agreed to start preparing more healthy meals for themselves as opposed to fast food, and to eliminate soft drinks like soda from their diet. In the third theme of the study, it was found that the informal and wittiness of the college graduate nutrition sstudents added to the effectiveness of the course. The sstudents liked being able to relate to the nutritional battles that instructors went through. The final theme of the study is the effective aspects that helped the sstudents learn this information. Because most of the sstudents lacked proper measuring devices in their dorms, portion equivalents like a baseball or deck of cards were used to indicate proper portion size. In addition, the sstudents were also shown food models and played interactive nutrition games quizzing what they have learned. With all things considered, the health of college sstudents at Florida Atlantic University and likely the majority of college sstudents abroad are at risk. For many college sstudents, after being cooked for while at home, it can be tricky and nearly impossible to resist the wide selection of unhealthy food options. Some sstudents actually become overwhelmed with all of the fast food options, and resort to buying food from multiple places. A combined effort from both faculty and sstudents will be needed in order to successfully alter the diet FAU has to offer. To be a prosperous college student, maintaining a healthy body and mind is crucial. Maintaining a healthy body weight, strengthening your immune system, increased mental alertness, and a general feel good sensation tthroughout the body can be achieved by simply eating healthy foods. Organisation law---contracts and shares Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Organisation law---contracts and shares - Essay Example Advise Bob. The legal text that regulates the various activities of companies across Australia is the Corporations Act 2001; the case law is also applicable on issues, which are not particularly regulated by the Australian law ââ¬âespecially the above legislative text ââ¬â, or those which have been already examined and evaluated by the Courts. At the first level, a company is a separate legal entity, which means that it has the responsibility of the actions developed in its name (Salomon v Salomon & Co [1897], Ander Transport Pty Ltd v Brambles Ltd (2004); the individuals that participate in a company need to follow the rules set by the company law ââ¬â the principles of common law may also be applicable; furthermore, the members of a company have to follow the rules included in the companyââ¬â¢s constitution ââ¬â which is considered as a contract between the company and its members (CA s140(1)). The company ââ¬â as a legal entity ââ¬â can enter contracts with individuals or other companies; however, the company is an artificial person and cannot enter a contract by itself; it is represented by individuals, board of directors or agents (Lennardââ¬â¢s Carrying Co v Asiatic Petroleum [1915], Royal British Bank v Turquand (1856)); the contracts of companies with third parties (outsiders) are regulated i n the section 129 of Corporations Act 2001. Because of its nature as a separate legal entity, a company can be held liable for the damages that have been caused to outsiders because of the violation of the terms of contracts signed between them and the particular company; however, the members and the officers of the firm may be hold liable for the amount paid as compensation or losses to outsiders ââ¬â in the context described above ââ¬â referring especially to the case that the damages to outsiders resulted by the unfair conduct of the companyââ¬â¢s affairs. Starting a Business, Develop a new department Research Paper
Starting a Business, Develop a new department - Research Paper Example However a number of other factors merit attention too such as development of products and services such that market competition is firmly dealt with. Moreover new businesses need to consider how positions would be manned in the new business along with the development, training and retention mechanisms. Similarly if the business is working in a unique sector it may be necessary to recruit human resources from existing businesses without violating ethical or legal norms. Similar attention to detail must be paid to the facet of marketing without which there would be little point in creating products or services. Only effective marketing to the appropriate target market segment could ensure that the product or service is being consumed as intended. A system for support and services may also be required along with marketing and other facets if the business operations require after sales support and services. Ethical and legislative considerations must always be considered no matter what t he business size, the market constraints or other restrictions might be. Effective ethical and legislative enforcement mechanisms must be installed in businesses from the top to the bottom to ensure sustainability. Business history proves that large corporations such as Enron and WorldCom came crashing down when legislative requirement and ethical considerations were put into the background. These considerations are presented below in greater detail for a fertilizer manufacturing, marketing and distribution business located in the third world. 2. Considerations 2.1. Product and Services Development One of the most vital aspects of any business is its products or services or a combination of both that are critical to generating revenue. Within a theoretical framework businesses are essentially created in order to generate revenue so the facets of product and services development are vital too. Given the fact that this text will be considering a fertilizer business it is apparent that fertilizer has been developed as a product since the 1930ââ¬â¢s so there is little need for research into making urea fertilizer. The current production methods rely largely on using methane through a host of different processes after which urea is created. However these production methods are not continually updated so there is little need for a research mechanism to be in place. Hence the business that would be initiated in order to create urea fertilizer would require equipment and machinery that would convert methane gas into urea but would not necessarily require a research framework. In most given cases large licensors who are attuned to designing and installing new fertilizer complexes are contracted to cover the design and build aspects of the plant. Once the plant is commissioned it is handed over to an operations and maintenance staff who are essential to the product development facet. Therefore in order to start a fertilizer manufacturing business it would be necessar y to hire outside contractors who would design and build the plant in the supervision of the principalââ¬â¢s staff. Once the plant goes online, more manning would be required to deal with the production and maintenance aspects. It would be preferable to hire production and maintenance personnel who are previously experienced in dealing with fertilizer plants because certain aspects of a fertilizer plant are safety and

International Biz Management 4 questions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
International Biz Management 4 questions - Essay Example The analysis of benefits and costs of moving the plant from US to Mexico are detailed below: Strategic Implications of Moving the Plant There can be a number of different reasons behind a companyââ¬â¢s thought to move its operation, either completely or partly, to another country. As Plenert (2002) stated, out of various reasons for a company to relocate its operation, advantages of labor cost and total costs are the major drives for US companies to take wise decisions regarding relocations (p. 378). Moving to another country is strategically important as it helps a company gains more competitive advantages, build stronger brand worldwide etc. Benefits of labor cost and total costs are more evident in cases where companies decide to move from a developed country to a developing or under-developed country. Almost all major Multinationals have shown their place in China due to the availability of cheap labor that ensures increased productivity, greater accuracy and more effectivenes s in business operation. Relocating the plant from US to Mexico is not only driven by labor or total cost factor. ... und 50 % of Mexicoââ¬â¢s total manufacturing assets are controlled by large Multinationals, mainly in border zones, making these border zones main cities of the country (Hamnett, 1999, p. 261). Moving companyââ¬â¢s plant to Mexico thus helps the company gain greater advantages of labor and total cost, greater efficiency and increased productivity. But, if the company doesnââ¬â¢t decide to move, it may not be able to gain greater competitive advantages and ensuring the efficiency in its operation. Social Responsibility of the business in Mexico Social responsibility is perhaps one of the most important buzzwords of todayââ¬â¢s business world. No matter whether the business stays in home or goes global, social responsibility is an extremely important factor that determines how good the business is and how far it can be successful. A business should never be a profit-only oriented business, but rather, it must seek to align its values, visions and strategies with needs, view s and perceptions of its various stakeholders, including employees, customers, government and wider social interests (Mallin, 2009, p. 1) When the company plans to move its plant from US to Mexico, it is highly important that its management must consider corporate social responsibility. An extensive market research may be required to recognize the tastes, specific requirements and interests of customers that it targets. As Kotler and Lee (2005) noted, social responsibility is a commitment to improve community well-being through discretionary business practices and contributions of business practices (p. 3). The proposed manufacturing plant to be established in Mexico and its operational activities should be able to add values to the community well-being. Business activities that are mandated by law or are

Online Learning vs Face-to-Face Learning
Online Learning vs Face-to-Face Learning Have you ever seen an advertisement on television that promotes acquiring a degree online? The advertisements make it sound easy and convenient to get a two-year, or even a four-year degree, for little of nothing, in a short amount of time, and big-time businesses will be begging you to work for them. However, is acquiring a degree online better than sitting in a classroom with a real-life professor? Do you receive more of a quality education in a classroom, face-to-face, or behind a computer screen? Face-to-Face learning is better than online learning because of the interactions and examples of face to face learning will benefit the learner the most. One of the most beneficial means of physically being in a classroom is the response time that a person receives from an actual person, such as a professor, versus an online class instructor. During face to face learning, a persons questions will get an immediate answer whereas online learning means waiting for a response. Studies show that immediate and efficient feedback response time is crucial to effective learning. In a classroom environment, you may also have the advantage of working in small groups where you can collaborate on difficult topics and receive immediate feedback from you peer groups as well. Sometimes, discussing issues or problems with your instructor in person is a lot easier than typing it out or trying to explain it in face-time online. Efficient and effective constructive feedback is imperative to proper learning environments, such as what a person would receive in an actual classroom. Attending classes in person also creates a disciplined, structured student. In todays society, it is crucial that students become more structured by attending scheduled classes. By abiding by a class schedule, this trains the student for real world situations, such as being on-time for a job interview or important business meetings. The online environment is usually more flexible as far as time constraints. A person does not have attend class at a specific time and can do household chores, take care of a baby, etc. Many people may see this as an advantage. (Lim, Doo Hun, Michael L. Morris). However, this is actually a disadvantage because it creates a carefree, lazy, and distractive environment. This type of climate cannot possibly properly prepare a person for a job, profession, or career. The online classroom is at an extreme disadvantage when trying to properly prepare a student for a structured, business-type atmosphere. One of the best ways to make new friends and meet new people by socially interacting with them is in the classroom. Meeting new people is a great way to sharpen your social skills and where else better can a person do that but in the classroom. Socializing with others is a perfect way to make future job connections, acquire new friends, maybe meet your soulmate. Online learning depletes a person of these socializing opportunities. It even impairs them further. Socializing face-to-face is becoming a trait that is harder to find in employers today. With increased amounts of text messages, social media sites, and other less invasive ways of interacting with other people, employers are struggling to find employees that know how to interact face-to-face effectively. They are a dying breed as we speak. Collaborating with others offers several more benefits for a student to be successful in the real world instead of spending time behind a monitor at home. A great way to learn how to interact with a superior is by being a student in an actual classroom environment. By interacting with your professor, this prepares a student how to effectively talk, respond, and work for a superior. Personalities sometimes do not mesh, they may even clash, but by learning how to deal with other personalities, this develops a more well-rounded individual socially speaking. Trial and error in how you respond and/or get responses gets students ready for real world problems, such as how to properly talk to your boss, how to handle difficult situations with co-workers, maybe even how to settle differences with your spouse. (Smith, Nigel V). By learning how to answer to a superior, even though it may be a professor or professors assistant, interacting with different types of people as your superior trains a student to become a more successful individual later in life. The classroom also offers several opportunities for a student to learn kinesthetically, whereas the online classroom fails the student in this area. Online learning obviously offers opportunities for visual learning, but it does not offer much else. The classroom offers so much more, such as hands-on trainings, visual and hearing enhanced learning, and other kinesthetic, or physical means, of acquiring information. By incorporating different learning styles, the success rate of learning highly increases. This creates a more successful learning environment for everyone. The online learning experience is very limited in capturing different learning styles and ultimately fails the student. The online classroom actually offers more opportunities to become distracted and stray away from better learning versus the physical classroom. Since the traditional way of learning has always been in a classroom, many people think that students become more distracted in this type of environment. (Bowen, William G., et al). However, the opposite is true. By doing online learning from home, office, or in a public venue, students are increasingly more distracted by other people, family members, and cell phones. Many classrooms limit students to being on their phones or laptops, therefore, decreasing the amount of distractions. Online learning actually increases the amount of distractions because most people access their online classrooms from home, their office or place of work, or in a public place such as a coffee shop. People with conditions such as ADHD or other learning disabilities are at even more of a disadvantage for a successful online learning experience. Finally, not everyone is equipped with fast-connecting internet, wifi, or has data plans that support the online learning environment. Many people live in rural areas where high-speed internet service or wifi is not available. Data plans and internet plans can be expensive, so people that are on a strict budget tend to stray away from costly internet and phone data plans. Sometimes internet connections can be interrupted by bad weather and can cause problems with your online learning experience. You may even lose your work if there is a power outage or your internet connection is interrupted. If you have a deadline, this could be a very bad situation. Face-to-face learning in an actual classroom is proven to be the better alternative when it comes to being a student. Despite our ever increasing use of technology, online learning fails to prepare a well-rounded student that is prepared for the real world. By increasing social interactions, becoming more structured in your schedule, and learning how to interact with authority figures, students are far more successful in their careers by accessing the traditional classroom option. However, as more and more online learning opportunities increase, face-to-face learning may fade away forever. Work Cited Bowen, William G., et al. Black Reparation: Social Justice through the visibility of the Black na
In American history, the people of color narrative have historically been invisible; the dominant discourse of American society has been predominantly white with Eurocentric emphasis. Thus, we see the silencing of the narrative of minority groups in American history. In his literature The Price of Reconciliation, Ronald Walters argues for a Black political agenda that includes reparations; he believes that the legacy of slavery has produced a domino effect that produces the oppression of Blacks till this day. Conservatives on the other hand disagree with Walterââ¬â¢s argument; they believe that reparation is unnecessary because America is now fair to Blacks. Furthermore, conservatives believe that Blacks should move on since slavery happened a long time ago. In order to understand Walterââ¬â¢s argument we must understand his claim that Blacks still suffer from the legacy of slavery. In addition, we must analyze his argument for Black reparation. To comprehend the impact of rep aration we must assess the effects of it in the Black community; thus we must analyze how reparation can both aid and hurt the Black community. By taking these steps, we look at the arguments about reparation with a critical eye. To understand Walterââ¬â¢s claim for reparation we must first understand his view on the effects of the legacy of slavery and its cascading effect on current Black oppression. According to Walters, slavery was a means of legitimizing Black subordination. He states that, ââ¬Å"whites had to pretend that they [Blacks] were subhuman species unworthy to enjoy the privileges and responsibilities of free citizens in a free society (Walters, 84).â⬠By the legitimization of slavery, whites are able to label Blacks as inferior creates undeserving of similar... ...ack reparation. Walter provides a viable justification for Black reparation. He believe that through the passage of Black reparation, the Black voice will finally be visible in American society. However, white conservative contest the idea of Black reparation as ââ¬Å"opening up old woundsâ⬠; thus they advocate for the idea of ââ¬Å"moving on.â⬠In order to fully help the Black community, a viable alternative form of Black reparation must be achieved. Aiding Blacks with educational opportunities seems the most viable not because blacks are intellectually inferior but rather the education system in America is systematically racists; thus, it obstruct the success of many Blacks. As Walter suggest, reparation to Black should occur because it is the social responsibility of America to rectify its wrongdoing; thus with this argument, reparation becomes a form of social justice.
